Scott Doney Headshot

Before establishing himself as a senior IT executive, Scott pursued his academic journey at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in architectural studies. He began his career as a draftsman in the engineering department of the Carle Foundation Hospital, then moving on to the role of staff architect for a design-build firm in Chicago, becoming their first computer-aided design operator and ultimately supervisor of the C.A.D. department. When opportunity struck at Xerox, Scott pushed himself to establish a strong foundation in sales acumen and process discipline, earning him recognition as the #1 sales rep in the U.S. after just 3 years with the organization. Over the next 2 decades, Scott sharpened his skills as he advanced his career at Xerox before assuming a role as head of sales for a start-up technology firm specializing in digital rights management, among other roles in mid- to large-sized corporations with a global footprint.

Transitioning to the world of SAP, Scott has continued to dedicate himself to learning and growing, and today he speaks passionately about what attracts him to the field: “The two common denominators over the past 20 years in my career are that ERP systems are the backbone of industry, the catalyst for innovation and digital transformation, and that data is the lubricant that drives industry and moves it forward.” As part of the Vortex team, Scott most values our approach to staffing excellence and commitment to client satisfaction with simple processes and direct, collaborative communication at its center.

Outside of work, you’re likely to find Scott exploring Texas Hill Country on his motorcycle or taking a longer annual road trip to enjoy somewhere new. Other outdoor hobbies include golf and bicycling. He and his wife, Amy, are enthusiastic gardeners and tend to a homebuilt, fully enclosed 12’x16’ raised bed garden. Their blended family includes five children and their first grandchild, Colbie. During family gatherings you might just catch Scott playing a tune on one of the guitars from his growing collection or telling the story of earning 2 varsity letters playing college football!
